INTRODUCTION

Vascular surgical services in the Ministry of Health was established in 1993. Based in the Department of Surgery, Hospital Kuala Lumpur, HKL VASCULAR is the primary referral centre for Vascular cases in the Ministry of Health of Malaysia.

Services

HKL Vascular provides treatment for a wide variety of vascular cases. This includes varicose veins, peripheral vascular diseases, aortic aneurysms carotid artery diseases and many more. We also provide services in creating and maintaining vascular access for hemodialysis for patients with renal failure.

Out-patient care

Referrals from other hospitals and clinics are seen in the surgical out-patient clinic on an appointment basis. Patients are assessed clinically and non-invasive evaluation can be made with our in-house duplex ultra-sonography prior before deciding on further management. All out-patient visits are on appointment  basis.

Out-patient care services include:
1. Non-invasive duplex ultrasonography for diagnosis, operative planning and surveillance following surgery
2. Dedicated vascular access clinic for renal failure patients requiring access creation for hemodialysis
3. Venous clinic for patients with varicose veins and venous incompetence
4. Wound dressings

In-patient care

All patients requiring vascular intervention are admitted to the surgical wards. Patients are also admitted for selected investigations and pre-operative preparation for surgery,
